After earning his degree in directing from Carnegie Mellon University, Leynse started working for Primary Stages in several positions, such as Production Manager and Literary Manager.
In 1999, he left Primary to work as Julian Schlossberg’s associate producer at Castle Hill Works, where he created more than twenty Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.
He led the organization’s relocations to the Cherry Lane Theatre, The Duke on 42nd Street, and most recently, back to the 59E59 Theaters after rejoining Primary Stages in 2001 as Artistic Director.
