Rudolph Isley’s Successful Music Career
Rudolph Isley is a singer-songwriter and founding member of The Isley Brothers. He was born in Cincinnati in 1939 and began singing in church as a child. The Isley Brothers formed in 1954 and released their debut album, Shout!, in 1969. The group consisted of Rudolph, Ronald Isley, and O’Kelly Isley, Jr. and later included brother Vernon until his passing.
The Isley Brothers had a number of successful albums, including Live It Up, The Heat Is On, Harvest for the World, and Go for Your Guns. They also had numerous hit singles, such as “Shout (Part 1)”, “This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak for You)”, and “That Lady (Part 1)”. “Shout” sold more than a million copies and the group had four Top 10 singles on the US Billboard chart.
The Isley Brothers were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and into Hollywood’s Rockwalk in 1997. In 2003, they were inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Rudolph left music in 1989 to become a minister and has a net worth of $2 million. He has been married to Elaine Jasper since 1958.
