NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - The information below is from a HANO news release.

Today, The Housing Authority of New Orleans (HANO) announced the opening of the public housing waiting lists for the New Florida community and its Scattered Site properties. Waiting lists will be open to potential applicants on Monday, February 15th at 8am and will close on Friday, February 19th at 5pm.

Applicants can complete the electronic ONLY application for the public housing waiting list on the HANO website at https://hano.apply4housing.com/ or in-person at the New Florida Management Office at 2521 Independence Street from 10am to 2pm throughout the week. The agency will provide a limited amount of computers at the site for individuals in need of assistance.

The New Florida community, located at 2315 Independence Street, will include 51 modern, energy efficient one, two and three bedroom apartments for public housing residents. Leasing of apartments at New Florida is scheduled to begin in late spring. HANO also has a limited number of two, three and four bedroom public housing units available in its scattered site properties located throughout the city.

All applicants must meet HANO's eligibility requirements, including occupancy standards, and screening and suitability requirements. Annual Household Income for families who are interested in living at New Florida or HANO Scattered Sites cannot exceed income limits based on the number of persons in the household. The current income limits are as follows: (1) One Person Household: $33,600; (2) Two Person Household: $38,400; (3) Three Person Household: $43,200; (4) Four Person Household: $48,000; (5) Five Person Household: $51,850; and (6) Six Person Household: $55,700.
