New year, new hair! Well, sort of. Dua Lipa had one of the biggest hair changes of 2023, switching her hair color to announce her new era. Where her last album had her classic black hair as its signature look, her current rollout is leaning into a bright cherry cola red. There was also, of course, her multi-colored wigs worn as Mermaid Barbie in the Barbie movie. However, her latest switch-up is surely her biggest change ever—from cut to length to color.

On the second day of the new year, the pop star posted an Instagram carousel showing off a change to her appearance for her upcoming role as LaGrange in the spy movie Argylle. Needless to say, she committed to the role, debuting a bright blonde bob with edgy-chic styling.

The new ‘do reached almost to her shoulders. Her hair—almost certainly a wig—was cut by Luke Hersheson, and chopped in a layered style with all of her strands falling at various lengths. This contributed to the voluminous shape of the cut, which flared out towards the bottom. However, the biggest change was the color.

A far cry from her red, brown, and beachy pastels, Lipa’s hair was more on par with the sea of freshly-dyed celebrity blondes popping up at the tail end of 2023—including Beyoncé, Rihanna, Kim Kardashian, and Selena Gomez. In a slight ombré, her roots started at a deep, nearly brown, woody blonde shade. Then, an inch or two in, her hair switched to the brightest bleach blonde. It was a warm-toned ashy blonde that paired beautifully with her skin tone and makeup.

Underneath the side-sweeping style, which grazed her wispy lashes and brows, sat a sultry blue eyeshadow look that we will be replicating ASAP.

Different from the ultra-trendy baby blue shadows that every ‘90s lover has been emulating lately, Lipa’s shadow, done by Lisa Eldridge, was a deep navy blue that was just as bold as it was sensual. The color of a midnight sky or deep ocean waters, her eyes were engulfed in the shadow from the outer corner to under her eyes. Paired with the blue was black eyeliner thinly lining her eyes, black mascara, and a touch of baby blue sparkles on her inner corner.

Lipa’s makeup was finished off with glossy coral-pink lips, a heavier flush of blush, and a bronzed glow. Then, she was ready for some international espionage.
