Brad Budde, carrying his father Ed Budde’s legacy forward

Ed Budde is survived by his three children, a daughter and two sons. One of his sons, Brad Budde, also played the same position for the Chiefs as his father. The exciting thing about this family is that this father-son duo was drafted in the same franchise, in the exact draft pick, the first round. His father, Ed Budde, was the 8th overall pick for the KC Chiefs in 1963 and played 177 games for the franchise, leading them to a Super Bowl win in 1970 against the Minnesota Vikings.

Brad Budde grew around the Chiefs, propelling him to become an All-American at USC. Again, they became the only father-son duo to be drafted in the same team, at the same position and draft pick. Before his demise, the duo took the stage to announce some of the most influential recruits in the second round of the 2023 draft picks on Day 2.
